Listed below are resources designed to assist prospective and current students in discovering external scholarship opportunities which may be helpful in financing their college education. The information presented is provided as a reference tool only. Fort Valley State University or the University System of Georgia does not endorse any of the organizations listed. FVSU is not involved in any way in the selection process of external scholarships. Students are urged to conduct diligent research in their pursuit of scholarship funds, services or resources and to confirm the details of any scholarship for which they wish to apply. The Ron Brown Scholar Program Offers 10 four-year scholarships to outstanding African-American high school seniors. Program sponsored and funded by the CAP Charitable Foundation.

Latino College Dollars Many families are not aware that scholarships and grants- free money – are available to Latino students, and every year thousands of dollars go unclaimed! This up-to-date directory requires no registration and is accessible to all.

Apogee Search Scholarship Program Offers a $1,000 scholarship to the essay contest winner who best explains how Google’s evolution will affect the Internet and those in the Search Engine Marketing industry.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Offers 50 four-year $20,000 scholarships ($5,000 per year for four years) and 200 four-year $4,000 scholarships ($1,000 per year for four years) to high school or home-school seniors maintaining a minimum 3.00 G.P.A., who are planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Offers fifty scholarships of up to $30,000 per year to students attending community colleges or two-year institutions in the US and planning to transfer to four-year institutions, and thirty scholarships of up to $50,000 per year to graduate students. Applicants must be outstanding individuals demonstrating financial need.

NBA Scholarship Award 2019 The NBA’s Corporate Law Section, along with the NBA’s Commercial Law Section, Majority Law Firms Division and Region VI, invite students at your institution to apply for the “NBA Gateway to Success Scholarship Award.

National Association for Campus Activities Foundation Offers numerous scholarships to undergraduate and graduate student leaders and associate members.

Patient Advocate Foundation Scholarships for Survivors Program Offers 10 $3,000 scholarships to students under the age of 25, who are survivors of, or who are currently battling cancer or a critical or life threatening disease.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Offers scholarships of up to $7,200 annually to under served high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.

The Sallie Mae Fund Scholarship Programs Offers approximately $2.5 million each year in college scholarships to low-income and minority students. The Sallie Mae Fund is committed to addressing the three barriers to college access that low-income and minority students face today; lack of information regarding higher education and financial aid, financial need, and academic preparedness.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation Offers scholarships of up to $30,000 to students pursuing graduate degrees in public service fields and are committed to careers in government, the nonprofit or advocacy sectors, education or elsewhere in public service.

American Indian College Fund Offers scholarships to American Indian students who are enrolled or are planning to enroll in either a tribal college or a selected mainstream university. Follow “Scholarships & Students” link or go to the Mainstream College Scholarships page.

Armenian Scholarship Foundation Offers scholarships of $500 and $750 to U.S. Armenian undergraduate and graduate students.

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund Offers scholarships to Asian and/or Pacific Islander Americans attending college for the first time. Must enroll full-time in a two or four-year program at a U.S. accredited college or university in the U.S., Guam, American Samoa, or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Offers scholarships, internships and fellowships to promising Latino students with backgrounds in community service. CHCI’s goal is to develop young Latinos into effective professionals and strong civic-minded leaders.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund Offers a variety of scholarships to Hispanic students at different points in their academic careers. Follow “Scholarships” link.

Korean American Scholarship Foundation Offers various scholarships from $1,000 to Korean American students in fields specified by individual and corporate donors.

LULAC National Educational Service Centers Offers scholarships to qualified Hispanic students who are enrolled or are planning to enroll in accredited colleges or universities. Under “Our Programs”, follow “Scholarships” link.

Morris K. Udall Foundation Offers eighty scholarships of up to $5,000 and fifty honorable mentions to students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; or to Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; or to Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to Native health care.

Thurgood Marshall College Fund TMCF is the only national organization to provide scholarships, programmatic and capacity building support to the 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and to date has awarded more than $200 million in such assistance to its students and member-schools.

McDonald’s is also offering three scholarships for our students to apply for.

  • TMCF/McDonald’s HBCU Forward Scholarships (1): $10,000 Awarded to female students who exhibit strong community service & leadership. What will you do NEXT to make your mark on the world? We want to hear about your amazing plans to change the way the world works — with your HBCU Forward thinking. 
  • TMCF/McDonald’s Inspiration Celebration Scholarship (1): $10,000 Awarded for involvement in music performance and/or education. How does music inspire you? How do you see it shape the world and those around you? Share your passion and vision for music with us when you apply for the Inspiration Celebration award.
  • TMCF/McDonald’s True to the HBCU Scholarships (4): $10,000 Awarded for dedication to your HBCU & campus community. How do you represent your school in the classroom and on campus? Why did you choose your specific school? Tell us about your HBCU pride and why you always stay True to your HBCU!

United Negro College Fund Administers over 450 scholarships and fellowships that support students at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level.

Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to students actively working for peace and justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to those able to do academic work at the university level and who are part of the progressive movement on the campus and in the community.

National Association of Hispanic Journalists NAHJ offers scholarships for each school year to full-time undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in journalism in English or Spanish-language media, or both. The series of scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 have varying requirements and are open to students attending four-year and community colleges in the Unites States and Puerto Rico.

Frank Kazmierczak Memorial Migrant Scholarship The purpose of this scholarship is to serve as a living tribute to Frank Kazmierczak, a long time migrant educator, by offering an annual award in the amount of $1,000 for post-secondary scholarship assistance to a migrant student who wishes to pursue a career in teaching.
