Georgia Residential Energy Efficiency Network
Objectives
Fort Valley State University’s Cooperative Extension Program wants to change the way Georgians use home energy through the Georgia Residential Energy Efficiency Network (GREEN) Project. Through the GREEN Project, FVSU Cooperative Extension personnel will offer workshops and resources designed to help consumers make informed energy efficiency and conservation decisions for their home. The project also teaches consumers how to be proactive in energy usage which can result in energy and monetary savings.
Workshops
GREEN workshops emphasize the cost-savings of electric reduction measures, particularly lighting and refrigerator replacements, as well as other cost-effective home performance strategies. These strategies include insulation and health and safety measures. GREEN workshops are free for groups of 10 or more persons. Workshops can be held in various locations including churches, community centers and FVSU’s campus.
GREEN workshops include discussions on the following topics:
- Energy audits
- Weatherization programs
- Heating ventilation and air conditioning systems
- Appliances and lighting
- Increasing efficiency and reducing consumption
