Fort Valley State University Increases Access to Equitable, High-Quality Peer Tutoring in Partnership with Knack

Fort Valley State University (FVSU) is excited to announce a transformative partnership with Knack Tutoring, set to launch this semester. Through this collaboration, FVSU students enrolled in any course will gain access to free on-demand tutoring services, fostering a dynamic environment for academic growth and success.

Prospective peer tutors will receive comprehensive training endorsed by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), ensuring students receive exceptional academic support from their peers.

“This new and exciting partnership will provide our students with virtual and face-to-face support, which is critical to the overall success of our scholars,” said Timothy L. Hatchett, Ph.D., Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “Our strategic plan is specific as we are focused on increasing our student retention, engagement, and success. We are confident Knack Tutoring will assist us in reaching our goals.”

Expanding beyond peer-based assistance, the collaboration will also grant students access to a network of on-demand professional tutors. This dual support system aims to address the diverse academic needs of FVSU students, ensuring they receive timely help when they need it the most.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Knack to provide free on-demand tutoring for our students,” said Olufunke A. Fontenot, Ed.D., Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. “This service will play a pivotal role in delivering crucial support to our students when they need it most. We truly believe that academic success is bolstered by supporting student progression and completion, and this partnership will greatly contribute towards accomplishing these goals. With Knack, we are confident that our students will have access to the resources they need to excel in their studies and reach their full potential.”

A noteworthy aspect of this partnership is the investment in FVSU students. As part of the collaboration, a significant portion of the funding dedicated to Knack Tutoring goes directly back to students through tutor payments. This not only enhances the professional development opportunities for FVSU students but also contributes to on-campus economic development.
