Fort Valley State University (FVSU) President Paul Jones, Ph.D., has been named one of Georgia Trend's 2024 “500 Most Influential Leaders in Georgia” in the education category. This marks the second consecutive year that Jones has earned this distinction, which highlights his outstanding leadership, dedication to educational excellence, and lasting impact within the state and beyond.
Each year, Georgia Trend magazine honors influential leaders from diverse fields, including education, agribusiness, health care, the arts, communication, real estate, and transportation. This exclusive list celebrates leaders who demonstrate a steadfast commitment to advancing Georgia’s communities industries, and public life. Jones’s inclusion among the state’s most influential leaders underscores his visionary work at FVSU and his commitment to social mobility and academic achievement.
“It is an honor to once again be recognized among so many outstanding educational leaders across Georgia,” said President Jones. “This recognition reflects the entire Fort Valley State University community’s dedication to providing students with an education that empowers them to excel and create meaningful change.”
Under Jones’s leadership, FVSU has gained national recognition as Georgia's #1 public HBCU for seven consecutive years and is acclaimed for its success in social mobility, ranking #1 by U.S. News and World Report for any public or private institution in Georgia. FVSU is consistently ranked as a leader in helping students from underrepresented communities achieve upward economic mobility.
For more nearly four decades, Georgia Trend has highlighted the contributions of the state’s top leaders, and its third annual “500 Most Influential Leaders in Georgia” list stands as a testament to the influence and commitment of these individuals across Georgia’s business, nonprofit and governmental sectors.
