Posted on May 30, 2022 at 0:00 AM
Twenty-one-year-old Tamia Clark, a spring 2022 Fort Valley State University graduate, was recently highlighted on an NBC Nightly News segment for following in her father's footsteps and becoming an army officer.
During FVSU's May 14 commissioning ceremony, held during the commencement exercises, Tamia Clark received her first salute from her father, Army Sergeant Major Mark Clark. During the long-standing FVSU tradition and military right of passage, newly installed officers receive their first salute from an enlisted service member of their choice.
Second Lieutenant Tamia Clark is the third generation in the Clark family to pledge protection to our nation. Clark, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, was commissioned as an Armor Officer. She is the first female FVSU graduate to commission Combat Arms (Armor Branch).
