This year, we proudly celebrate a milestone in our institution’s history—130 years of Fort Valley State University! Since our founding in 1895, FVSU has been a beacon of success, scholarship, and sustainability, transforming lives and communities through education, innovation, and leadership.

Unapologetic Excellence

As we embark on this year-long celebration, we embrace the theme "130 Years of Unapologetic Excellence"—a bold declaration that our legacy and impact speak for themselves. To be unapologetic is to stand firm in who we are, never diminishing our greatness and always striving for more. It means celebrating our achievements without hesitation, uplifting our community without compromise and pushing forward without limits.

A Year of Reflection, Recognition, and Celebration

Throughout 2025, we will highlight three key areas that define FVSU’s past, present, and future:

🔹 Success – Recognizing the outstanding contributions of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni who continue to make a difference.
🔹 Scholarship – Showcasing the impact of scholarships that change lives and celebrating academic excellence and research.
🔹 Sustainability – Honoring our commitment to the environment, agriculture, and economic development that uplifts the communities we serve

130th Anniversary Stories

The story of Fort Valley State University is the story of the people who have shaped it—students, alumni, faculty, and staff who embody our legacy of excellence. Submissions can be any length, from a paragraph with a photo to an essay with multiple images. We want a variety of content to showcase in our 130th anniversary celebrations, which may be featured on our website, social media or in university publications.
