Homecoming Celebrates Generosity

FVSU recently held its much-anticipated Homecoming celebration, showcasing the incredible generosity of alumni, corporate partners, and friends who contribute to the university’s mission. This year’s event raised an impressive total of $788,545 through various contributions, underscoring the strong bonds within the FVSU community. 

The festivities kicked off with pregame presentations, featuring donations from various supporters, including: 

CareSource – $10,000 

Isaac & Dorothy Crumbly – $10,000 

Oscar Jessie – $10,000  

South Central GA Alumni Chapter – $10,000 

80s Royal Blue and Old Gold Alumni Affinity Group – $11,000 

Albany Alumni Chapter – $11,000 

Arthur & Bernice Johnson – $11,450 

FVSU Class of 1964 – $14,000 

Bluebird – $15,000 

Lester B. Solomon – $15,000 

TradeFutures, Inc. – $19,810 

Andrew Reese – $21,564  

In total, 12 contributors stepped up during the pregame, raising $248,450 to support FVSU initiatives. Each donation not only provides essential funding but also reflects a deep commitment to the university’s growth and success. 

The halftime presentations showcased even more remarkable contributions, including: 

President Paul & Mrs. Sylvia Jones – $30,000 

Dr. Matthew McRae, Jr. & McRae Family Dental – $25,000 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – $30,500 

Dean Thomas & Mrs. Barbara Palmer – $31,295 

The Honorable Calvin Smyre – $33,000 

Lomax Porter – $49,250 (with presentation by Kenneth Howard) 

Georgia Power Company – $50,000 (with Patrick Harris) 

Dekalb County Alumni Chapter – $51,000 

Willie & Cora Billingslea – $55,000 (with Willie Billingslea IV standing in) 

Kaypers Jackson – $100,000 

FVSU Class of 1974 – $130,782.40  

The halftime segment featured 12 contributions, totaling $540,095. Notably, the contributions from the Class of 1974 amounted to $257,232.40, with a generous $100,000 gift from Kaypers Jackson, Class of 1974, highlighting the dedication of alumni who continue to invest in FVSU’s legacy and future. 

Overall, the event saw a total of 24 check presentations, celebrating the generosity of the FVSU family. This year, the Wildcat Club Tailgate brought together alumni and supporters for a festive atmosphere filled with good food and lively conversations.

As the Homecoming festivities concluded, the FVSU community celebrated not just the financial support but the shared vision for a bright future. Together, the Wildcat family continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of current and future students.
