FVSU Appoints New Vice Provost of Academic Affairs

Fort Valley State University has announced the appointment of Dr. Robert Dibie as a new member of the academic leadership team. Dr. Dibie has been appointed as the vice provost of academic affairs and dean of graduate education. He will begin his new role effective July 15, 2021.
Prior to his appointment here at FVSU, Dr. Dibie was a Professor of Public Policy Analysis, Public Management and Environmental Studies at Indiana University Kokomo in the Department of Public Administration and Health Management.
"As an internationally recognized leader in higher education, I look forward to Dr. Dibie using his visionary leadership and data-driven decision-making skills to work with our students, staff, faculty, alumni, and other community stakeholders to accomplish our strategic goals and to advance the sustainability initiatives of our institution," said FVSU President Paul Jones.
In addition to serving as a professor at Indiana University Kokomo, Dr. Dibie has received several awards for his outstanding research and teaching. He is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Fellowship awarded by the Institute of International Education in Washington, D.C. He was the dean of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University Kokomo and previously served as the director of graduate studies at Western Kentucky University. Dr. Dibie was also instrumental in developing several graduates, cohort executive, and online programs at Indiana University and abroad.
"Fort Valley State University has great potential and has made much progress. I see many more opportunities to raise the visibility of the institution to leverage resources as well as foster academic excellence, research innovation, graduate education, students and faculty success, high-quality academic programs, and new degree programs," said Dibie. "I look forward to working with faculty and students to help make the university one of the best in the state, nation, and globally."
Dr. Dibie earned a master's degree in social sciences with a specialization in public administration and international relations from the University of Detroit Mercy. He also received his Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration from Western Michigan University. He is the author of 10 books, 18 book chapters, and more than 85 research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Two of his latest books are Women's Empowerment for Sustainability in Africa by Cambridge Scholars Press England; and Business and Government Relations in Africa by Routledge Press, New York.
