FVSU Named One of the Best HBCUs in the Nation for 2021

College Consensus recently named Fort Valley State University as one of the Best Historically Black Colleges and Universities for 2021. A college ratings website that aggregates publisher rankings and student reviews, College Consensus publishes its annual ranking of the nation's best HBCUs to highlight institutions that define black excellence. FVSU ranked at 14 out of the top 50 historically black institutions included on the list.
Each year, College Consensus recognizes HBCUs for providing excellent academics within a supportive and inclusive environment, and as having some of the strongest alumni networks where graduates continue to invest in the lives of their peers and current students. The top 50 ranking of schools was comprised of a variety of categories including public and private; research universities and liberal arts colleges; religious and non-religious. Among the factors evaluated were student-to-faculty ratio; in-state and out-of-state tuition fees; and graduation rates.
To develop the list, College Consensus pulled together data from numerous college ranking sites including U.S. News & World Report, WalletHub, the Wall Street Journal, and others. Those results were combined with the most reputable student reviews from sites including Niche, My Plan, and Unigo, creating a Publisher Rating and a Student Review Rating. The combination of these two evaluations created the Consensus Rating, making it a comprehensive meta-ranking.
College Consensus publishes annual rankings of the nation's best institutions in a variety of other categories including Best National Liberal Arts Colleges, Best MBA Programs, Best Women's Colleges, Best Community Colleges and Best Online Graduate Schools to name a few.
