Countdown to Commencement at FVSU: Here’s What You Need to Know

It’s commencement week at FVSU. Here’s what you need to know if you’re a student, family member or guest.

Undergraduate, Graduate Ceremony, and ROTC Commissioning Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 at Wildcat Stadium: Approximately 235 students across all colleges and schools will be formally recognized at an outdoor ceremony scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on May 11 at Wildcat Stadium. Daniel K. Wims, Ph.D.,’87, president of Alabama A&M University, will be the featured speaker.

Student information:

Information on reporting location, time, parking, and student instructions was emailed to all participants. Please check your Wildcat email for detailed instructions.

Families and guests:

Guests should plan to arrive 60 minutes prior to the ceremony. Signage on campus will direct you to the appropriate entrances. If you are attending the ceremony, please plan to arrive early, due to an expected high volume of traffic on Carver Drive between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Guests are asked to enter the gate across from the FVSU Infant and Child Development Center, located on Carver Drive.
Guests must arrive by 9 a.m. to view the processional.

FVSU has implemented a clear bag policy at Wildcat Stadium. Guests can bring one clear bag and one small bag per person. Clear bags approved for entry: A clear tote (12x6x12) or a one-gallon, clear plastic storage bag. Small bags (6.5x4.5") and wallets are allowed. All guests will be subject to bag checks. The following items are prohibited: noise makers, confetti, balloons, flowers, umbrellas, signs larger than 3’X5’, and more.

Tickets are not required to enter Wildcat Stadium for Commencement.

Inclement Weather Plan:
In the case of inclement weather, Commencement will be relocated to the Health and Physical Education Complex (HPE). Tickets will be required to enter HPE. Graduates have been allocated (12) tickets each in the case of inclement weather. All children over the age of 3 will require a ticket. Children 2 and younger are not required to have a ticket if they can sit in the lap of a parent or guardian.

Commencement Program:
Programs will be distributed during the commencement ceremony. Digital programs will be available on the Commencement website on the day the ceremony.
