REPLAY: WATCH FALL 2018 COMMENCEMENT

(Fort Valley, GA)"” Fort Valley State University (FVSU) today announced the speaker for its 2018 Fall Commencement, John Hope Bryant. Bryant is an entrepreneur, author, philanthropist, and prominent thought leader on ï¬nancial inclusion, economic empowerment, and ï¬nancial dignity. The founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Operation HOPE, Inc., Bryant runs the largest nonprofit provider of ï¬nancial literacy, ï¬nancial inclusion and economic empowerment tools and services in the United States for youth and adults. It is one of Atlanta's 75 largest nonprofits overall.
FVSU's Annual Fall Commencement will celebrate 285 summer and fall graduates and take place on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the FVSU Health and Physical Education Complex, 1005 State University Drive in Fort Valley, GA 31030. Guests are asked to be seated by 9:00 a.m. The processional will begin promptly at 9:15 a.m., followed by the start of ceremonies at 9:30 a.m.

"At FVSU, we believe that our students need to graduate with skills not just to succeed professionally, but to also succeed in all areas of life," said FVSU President Paul Jones. "John Hope Bryant represents the type of financial and economic empowerment colleges must enable their graduates with in order for them to live their best, most fulfilling lives."
Bryant was American Banker Magazine's 2016 "Innovator of the Year," was featured in Inc. Magazine's "The World's 10 Top CEOs" and was named one of Time Magazine's "50 Leaders for the Future." For the past two consecutive years, Bryant has been named in the Atlanta Business Chronicle's "100 Most Influential Atlantans" listing of Atlanta's top business and civic influencers. He has received hundreds of awards and citations for his work, including, Oprah Winfrey's Use Your Life Award and the John Sherman Award for Excellence in Financial Education from the U.S. Treasury. Operation HOPE and Bryant are a permanent part of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in DC. The last ï¬ve U.S. presidents have recognized his work, and he has served as an advisor to the last three sitting U.S. presidents, from both political parties
Bryant is the author of numerous books, including The Memo: Five Rules for Your Economic Liberation, How the Poor Can Save Capitalism: Rebuilding the Path to the Middle Class, and Love Leadership: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World. His Facebook Live "Silver Rights" Series has received 40+ million views, and serves as an engaging platform to foster essential discussion in the digital age around ï¬nancial inclusion and social uplift.
