E-mail Financial Aid

Dear Student:

We are excited that you are interested in studying at Fort Valley State University. Our staff is aware of your concern for financing your college education, and we want to assist you in making the appropriate financial arrangements. Information about the types of aid available, the application process, and eligibility requirements can be found here.

Completing the “Free Application for Federal Student Aid,” or FAFSA, is your first step. We recommend using FAFSA on the web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Filing the FAFSA electronically saves weeks of processing time, and you can check the information for updates or errors; it will prevent the need for corrections. Our federal school identification code is 001566. Be sure to list this on the FAFSA so that we will be able to access your information for processing. The FVSU priority deadline for completed financial aid files is April 15 every year.

All students accepting loans must complete a promissory note before funds can be applied to their account. In addition, federal regulations require loan entrance counseling and a 30-day delay on the first loan disbursement of first time borrowers. We will receive an electronic notification when this step is completed.

First-time freshmen and transfer students who apply for aid at FVSU will receive one of the following at their permanent address:

  1. a request for additional information or
  2. an award notification letter after your file is complete and you have been admitted to a degree program at FVSU

Please notify the Registrar’s Office of any changes in your address. We use the information on file in that office for all correspondence.

If you have any questions regarding Financial Aid please contact the Customer Service Desk at 478-825-6363 Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our office is located in Room 113 Troup Administration Building.

Sincerely,

Eula Solomon, Director
