The Veterinary Science Department at Fort Valley State University offers two programs:

  • Four-Year Veterinary Technology (B.S. Degree)
  • Pre-Veterinary Medicine

The Four-Year Veterinary Technology program awards a Bachelor of Science degree in veterinary technology. This degree is designed to give students a broad based background in basic sciences as well as veterinary disciplines. Students working for this degree will complete the core curriculum designed for all bachelors degrees and also take professional courses in veterinary science.

Pre-Veterinary Medicine is a non-degree program which prepares students for entry into veterinary school for a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. The program is designed so that successful students may apply for early admission to schools of veterinary medicine. Because course requirements differ with individual schools, students should familiarize themselves with requirements for the schools where they plan to seek enrollment.

Admission Requirements are a high school diploma (or its equivalent) and acceptable SAT or ACT scores.
